Welcome back to school! This term we are looking at the Americas, and in KS2 we are focusing on the ancient civilization of the Maya.

In our D.T this term we are looking at Mayan temples. We are aiming to build our own and decorate them. Here are some pictures of our prototype ideas.

Class 3's got worms
In science we have been looking as rocks, fossils and soils. We conducted an investigation, creating our own mini compost piles in the class. We were looking at translocation of soil and transformation of fruit and vegetable waste to soil, 2 of the 4 ways soil is created.

Class 3 have been receiving some coaching from Rachel Hopkins, the first female captain in a male dominated cricket league in Derbyshire.

The Amazing Amazon
This half term we are looking at the Amazon River for our topic of "rivers and mountains"
We have been making poison dart frogs and been writing persuasive adverts on holidaying in the Amazon!
Spelling back by popular demand! - They are given out on Friday morning and stuck into planners, if children are away, the spelling list is on the book shelf in the pink cup as they have been all year.

Our author of the month, is Roald Dahl.
Class 3 went to Lady Manners and played in a tag rugby tournament, we took 3 teams. The festival team worked on rugby skills and the other two played against other schools. Placing 3rd and 1st! Well done to everyone involved
