Children in Need 2020
We had so much fun in our pyjamas for the day.
We held a little competition in class to colour in Pudsey. The winner was Charlie! His prize was to have his drawing turned into a fantastic 3D version of HIS Pudsey dancing here for you to see! |

Mystery Crime Scene - Wednesday 11th November
Something VERY mysterious crash landed in our field the other day. Mr Unwin was able to tape off the area in case it was dangerous but he asked us to investigate.
We had to write a report by listing all the evidence that we could see. There were many different theories as to what it was and what could have happened. What do you think it is? We found:

Remembrance
This year, we painted poppies onto pebbles to place on the memorial just outside school. We went in our class bubble to say a prayer and to remember those who lost their lives in the war.
Bonfire Night
We started off the half term learning all about Bonfire Night. We made safety posters, collages and poems!

Harvest RE Week
We learnt how Christians celebrate Harvest this week. We found out that it is a time to be grateful and say thank you. These are the things we are thankful for:
DT - Designing Bread
|
We finished off our farming topic with a DT project. After learning about 'the journey of bread' from growing wheat in the fields, to baking a lovely loaf, we evaluated some existing designs of bread. We looked closely and different shapes of bread rolls and chose described why we liked them.
Next, we designed some shapes to try out. We then practised making those shapes with playdough, before drawing our final design. |
The next day, was the fun part, making the bread! We worked in teams of four to read the recipe, weigh and measure the ingredients and knead, knead, knead until our bread was ready to shape. I'm sure you'll agree, our bread rolls turned out fantastically!
Jack and the Beanstalk
Hot write
Hot write
Now we can't wait to write our own brand new story. We have created our plans, drawn our story maps and practised 'reading' our new story to the class. All we need to do now is become authors and write!
Jack and the Beanstalk
Innovation We have had great fun changing parts of the Jack and the Beanstalk story. Learning the original story has given us the confidence to write lots and lots! We have also worked hard on using the best words to describe, created an adjective beanstalk and collected some brilliant words from the story for our 'Magpie Words'.

Jack and the Beanstalk
Imitation Our first Talk for Writing unit of the year has begun and we are so excited! A beanstalk grew in our classroom over the weekend!
We did wonder if it was one of the sunflowers we have been growing - but we soon started to think about what could be at the top!
|
Ask us to re-tell the story! We use our story map and actions to help us remember - and our best booming giant voice of course! "FEE FI FO FUM!"

Week Three- Here We Are
Wildlife |
"There are animals, too. They come in even more shapes, sizes and colours. They can't speak, though that's no reason not to be nice to them."
We LOVE animals in Dahl Class, and felt it was important to spread this message about animals that are in danger from becoming extinct like the dodo in the illustration.
We wrote posters all about endangered animals using information we read from the WWF website. |
Week Two - Here We Are
Our Community
Our Community
We drew our own half in, half out bodies and used our phonics to label all the bits we knew about!
Week One - Here We Are
Our Planet We always love exploring Google Earth in Dahl Class. We started by thinking about where we live - here on Earth, zooming closer to observe our countryside (aren't we lucky!) and even further to see where our classroom is in school.
|
"There is much to see and do here on Earth, so let's get started with a quick tour."
