MYSTICAL WOODLAND CREATURES
Have you seen what has appeared in our Outdoor area this week?!
A band of mystical creatures have appeared - they come to life at night and get up to all sorts of cheeky shenanigans when we are at home fast asleep!
If you have a spare 5 minutes at home time or in the morning before school, then go on a hunt and see who you come across!
Monday 24th June
This week In Donaldson we have been very busy!
SUMMER 2 2019 ROAD TRIP!
This half term our whole school topic is The European Union. In Donaldson Class we are taking this opportunity to talk about the places we have visited around the world. We have made a display of all of the places we have visited around the world! Come and take a look!
LOST AND FOUND BY OLIVER JEFFERS
Our story this half term is Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. We are using the Talk 4 Writing approach to learn how to be story tellers and writers!
SUMMER TERM 1 2019 SEEDS OF CHANGE
Our topic this half term is 'seeds of change'. We will be exploring how plants grow and how we have grown over time too! We will be making a timeline diary of our own lives as well as exploring length and using money in our garden center role play area.
We will also be learning about the impact humans are having on our planet and thinking about what changes we can make to our lifestyles to help keep our planet healthy.
We went on a walk to Mr Cox's farm to get some milk for the Year 6 SATs breakfast club. We stopped at the trough to see if we could see any frogs or pond creatures. We counted our coins and put the correct amount of money into the pot to buy our milk. We had to use our mental maths skills!
Getting the milk was SO much fun!
TRIP TO THORNBRIDGE GARDENS MAY 2019
On Tuesday 14th May we had a lovely walk to Thornbridge Hall and Gardens. We looked at native tree species and talked about how plants grow. We had lots of fun learning about Dandelions and Dandelion Clocks. We counted the seeds on 1 Dandelion Clock and can you guess how many seeds there were?!
...... 113!!!!! Wow!
Come and have a play in our Garden Centre!
SPRING TERM 2 2019
LOCAL HEROES AND VILLAINS
Our topic this half term is Local Heroes and Villains. We will be learning about local people who help us including the emergency services.
If you know anybody who does a job to help in our community then please let us know! It would be great to have some visitors in to talk to our children about the world around us.
MUD PIE MATHS!
We've been measuring, sharing, doubling, halving and learning positional and directional language in our Mud Kitchen this week.
We have been exploring colour and making colour wheels. Mixing colours is fun!
Monday's and Wednesday's
All children will now receive spellings to take home on a Monday. Look out for the red owl book in your book bag!
RECYCLING WITH TERRACYCLE
The school council have introduced a new recycling system for our playtime snack wrappers.
There are two recycling boxes in the Tolkien cloackroom.
One box is for crisp wrappers and the other is for other flexible snack wrappers.
Please remember to recycle as many of your snack wrappers as possible!
