During each fire pit session the children are learning about fire safety, how to manage risks, learning organisational skills and the skill of self control. They learn how to cook and most importantly gain a huge amount of enjoyment from the sessions.

DA VINCI'S PARACHUTE
In Design & Technology we have been learning about Leonardo da Vinci and his parachute. Da Vinci made his parachute out of a linen cloth which was supported by wooden poles.
We have designed and tested our own parachutes using the materials that we have available in our classroom. We chose to use crepe paper for the parachute itself and floristry ribbon for the parachute strings. We joined the ribbon and paper together using a variety of methods and tested how well our parachutes worked outside. We sometimes had to make alterations to our original plans to improve the designs of our parachutes.

We have orally re-told the story using our story map, made Cheese-o-Copter models, used the large scale construction outside to design our own flying machine and explain how it works and created a giant story map. All of these exciting activities will help us to produce some superb pieces of writing in a few weeks time!
